Christmas in Nakhon Sawan

Nadolig Llawen

The roaring fire has been replaced with a fan and I will be eating vegan duck instead of a stuffed goose but don't worry, we know it's Christmas time...

Here in Nakhon Sawan Christmas doesn't happen unless you make it yourself. So that's exactly what we've done. We've filled our flat with fairy lights and paper chains, the fridge is full of chocolate and cheese and I am listening to Carols from Kings as I type.

And it might sound cliche and you may not believe me but I feel so Christmassy, and our little corner of Christmas cheer means so much to us. The cards lined up on our bookshelf remind us of our wonderful family and friends who love us so much and our 3 foot fake Christmas tree makes us every bit as Christmassy as a fancy 7 foot magic non-drop monster dug straight from the earth.

On the 25th as you are all eating, drinking and being merry, we will be at school taking part in the annual Christmas show (actually by the time the real merriment begins we'll probably be tucked up in bed!) and we can't wait!

And three days later Christmas will come to our corner of Thailand. We will eat, drink and share the Christmas spirit with people we love (without the Queens speech or any hope of snow!)

Whatever you are doing this Christmas, we hope you have a wonderful time and are surrounded by Christmas cheer!
